From Administrator, Mark Leonard
Brothers and Sisters:
Results of the Special Meeting was held 4/4/2018. The meeting was to discuss whether or not to use some of the funds in the Edward Jones investment account (from the sale of the Seaside Lodge), for much needed repairs to the Lodge. The Board was prepared with plans for the required repairs and bids for the work. I was sad to see only 11 members at the meeting. I sent out 197 letters to our lodge members.
After a great PowerPoint presentation by Taz Davis, Governor Pacholke, asked for a motion. A motion was made to use up to 75k, if needed. 35k would be used for current repairs and 10k would be used to pay debts and maintain financial stability. The money would be returned, if not used, and a plan to pay approx. 5 % back into the Edward Jones account, yearly, if possible. The motion was seconded and approved by all present.
The projects will soon be under way. The kitchen floor is top priority. Dates for work days and volunteers will be posted prior to actual work starting.
As I mentioned, I was disappointed to see only 11 members at the meeting. I know all of them have given unselfishly of their time to keep this lodge open. None of us are paid for any of our time. I want to add Molly Brown and many others have also donated their time and money to keep this lodge running.
I need you to be honest with yourselves, what do you think? We need to hear from you, the members.
"Are we wasting our time?" This is your lodge. . . . . . .
Fraternally, Mark Leonard
